The poet wrote, 'Love in your heart is not put there to stay. Love isn't love, till you give it away.' We can be rejected by many, as long as we can come home and be loved by one. At times life will beat you down, so make your home a sanctuary. Here's a story to help you do that.

He'd finally decided to ask his employer for a pay rise. Before leaving for work he told his wife about it. All day long she felt apprehensive. Finally, late in the afternoon he summoned the courage to approach his boss. To his delight he got the pay rise. Elated, he arrived home to a beautiful table set with their best china and lighted candles. Smelling the aroma of a specially prepared meal, he guessed that somebody from the office had called his wife and tipped her off. Finding her in the kitchen he shared the good news. They embraced before sitting down to a wonderful meal. Next to his plate he found a note that read, 'Congratulations! I knew you'd get the pay rise. This dinner is to show how much I love you.' Later, on his way to the kitchen to help his wife serve dessert, he noticed a second card that had fallen from her pocket. Picking it up off the floor he read, 'Don't worry about not getting the pay rise. You deserve it anyway. This dinner is to show you how much I love you.' Acceptance! Love! She stood behind him no matter what - softening the blows, healing the wounds, believing in him. So the word for you today is - support your spouse!

Praise In The Early Stages

"They praised [God] because the foundation was laid" - Ezra 3:11 NKJV
We read, 'When the builders completed the foundation of the Lord's Temple... all the people gave a great shout, praising the Lord... ' (vv. 10-11 NLT). Why praise God in the early stages of something? First, because praise is an act of faith. It says, 'Lord, what You start, You finish. Thank You for giving me Your plan because Your plan always prevails. Some folk think I won't succeed, but with You on my side I'll succeed anyway. I'm not doing this for myself; I'm doing it for You and with You.' Second, because praise strengthens you. Nehemiah told his workers, '... "The joy of the Lord is your strength!"' (Nehemiah 8:10 NLT). If you lose your joy you lose your strength. If you lose your strength you lose your power to overcome the enemy. If you lose your power to overcome the enemy, you're defeated. But if you praise God even when all you have in front of you is a small beginning, His joy will energise you and you'll find it easier to complete the task. If you only praise God when things are easy or going right, you won't praise much, you won't have joy and you won't have strength. Third, because praise changes your environment. Imagine wheelbarrows, cement mixers, a partially built wall, and in the midst of it people shouting the praises of God. That's what happens when you put on a praise CD or tune into a Christian radio station; your problems don't necessarily change, but your outlook does. Simply stated, when you praise God in the early stages, you work better and the job gets done!

Why We Need Each Other

A mouse looked out through a crack in a farmhouse wall and was distraught to discover a mousetrap. When he went to tell his buddies, the chicken said, 'Sorry, pal, not my problem.' The pig said, 'I'll pray for you.' The cow was busy and said, 'Come back later.' Dejected, the mouse was left alone to handle his problem. That night, a poisonous snake got caught in the mousetrap and when the farmer's wife went to investigate she got bitten. She developed a raging fever, and everyone knows you treat a fever with chicken soup. So the farmer took his axe to the barn for the main ingredient! As his wife's condition deteriorated and neighbours gathered, he had to butcher the pig to feed them. Finally she died. So many people came to the funeral that he ended up slaughtering the cow to make dinner for them all. In the end, everybody lost!

The Bible says, '... Encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.' It only takes one thing to be an encourager: a willingness to '... bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves' (Romans 15:1 NAS). Before deciding somebody else's problem has nothing to do with you, read this: '... If one member suffers, all the members suffer... ' (1 Corinthians 12:26 NKJV). You can't sit on the sidelines while someone's hurting; tomorrow it may be you! We are told to 'Share each other's burdens... ' (Galatians 6:2 NLT). When one of us is threatened we're all at risk. Our lives are woven together for a reason; each of us is a vital thread in another person's tapestry

Hello again, Ladies

I forgot to include yesterday in the reminder about a few outreach projects…..

If you can, please remember we are having a secret shower for Dalys’s daughter. If you have anything a new mom could use, including words of advice in a card, please remember to bring it on Thursday. you can wrap any items or put them in a gift bag. Names on the bag are optional. We will be delivering the stuff to her daughter early next week. The Lord has really laid on our hearts to reach out to this young new mom and let her know God not only knows about her situation but He loves her and her new little baby dearly.

Please do not feel obligated to contribute if you are not at a point to be able to do so. Again, a card with encouraging words and prayer is just as powerful in God’s eyes and those in whom they have been offered on behalf of.

Secondly, the food pantry is in need of diapers. We will be collecting diapers all this month to deliver to the food pantry. We have chosen to do this activity as our Spring Outreach since the PRC is well blessed with food and diapers at this time. Our love and support will still be with the Will County PRC as we come together to support them in their Annual Walk for Life in April.

Also, we are still in need of some ladies to bake for the couples event on March 20th. If you have already received an email from Priscilla, she has your name and has you on the list. if you are willing to help support this event (they in turn are supporting our MOMS group and will give us some PR) by baking, please let myself or Priscilla know asap. Any amount of cookies or brownies are appreciated.

As sisters in Christ we stand in the gap for those whom the Lord lays on our hearts. I am so blessed to call you all my sisters. I treasure each one of you and pray for you and your families. Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!!!!

MOMS Tips for marriage

Hello!
Hard to believe almost two weeks have passed already since our last meeting. I had completely forgot to send out the Tips for a Great Marriage notes from our table discussions. I came across them as I sat down to put some things together for this week’s meeting. The list is a pretty good one!! Be sure to open the attachment and print it. Refer to it frequently and remind yourself how blessed you truly are and use it as a reminder that all good things in life take work….especially our marriages.

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Our discussion will be on discipline and why we need to discipline our children. This discussion is for all….whether your kids are 2 months old, 2 years old or 22 years old. My mamma always says, “once a mom, always a mom!”. In addition to our discussion on the topic, we will also have some time to share about our precious children. PLEASE take a few minutes and pull out a several photos of your children. Share as many or as few as you would like. It will be a fun meeting to meet the children (in picture, of course) of your tablemates. You all will get a chance to share about the wonderful child/children the Lord has placed in your care.

We had many out sick last meeting or with sick little ones. Please know we will be praying for you all and for your attendance at the meeting. I pray that each one of you know you are loved and cherished by our MOMS group, but also, and even more so, by your Lord and Savior!

Think About What You Think About

Nick was a tough guy with a bad outlook. He worked on the railways. One night after all his fellow workers had gone home he accidentally locked himself in a refrigerated carriage. Worried that the temperature was below freezing, he yelled for help, but to no avail. The more he thought about his situation the colder he felt, until eventually he started shivering uncontrollably. Convinced he was dying, he wrote a letter to his family outlining what had happened. The next morning they found Nick's body. An autopsy revealed that he had indeed frozen to death. But the investigators discovered something puzzling. The carriage in which Nick was trapped was out of order and had been disconnected. The night he froze to death the temperature in the boxcar was 16.1 degrees, just below room temperature. But because he expected to die, he lost the battle in his mind.

What you believe about your life is more important than what anyone else believes. Job said, 'What I feared has come upon me.' Be careful what you anticipate; negative expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies. God has promised to help you, but you get the deciding vote. By focusing on the negative you're agreeing to let satan defeat you. Jesus said, '... "According to your faith will it be done for you"' (Matthew 9:29 NIV}. So get into agreement with God's Word and focus on His promises instead of your problems. When you do, your faith will take you to new levels of victory. But it's up to you to take the first step!

Hello Ladies,

Just a friendly reminder we are in the Ministry Training room across from Noah’s Park for this Thursday’s meeting. Rebekah will be talking about Intimacy, exactly what it is in a marriage and how to get more of it. Sounds like a great topic. Can’t wait to hear the message.

Also, please remember that Thursday is also our Culver’s fundraiser. Plan on meeting up with other moms at Culver’s on 75th street for some fellowship, lunch and good ice cream following the meeting!! The fundraiser goes the entire day so if you can’t make it for lunch, maybe a quick ice cream after school for the kids or dinner out….no cooking!!!

Toni is also in need for some meals this week. She has a doctor appointment tonight and is afraid they may put her in the hospital for a short stay due to an infection. Please be praying for her and her girls and husband. If you can make a meal this week or next it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I know the cards in the mail and the prayers have made a great impact on her ability to hang in there. Please continue to cover her in prayer and support her as the Lord lays on your heart. Let me know if you can do a meal.

Remember, God has a great plan for your life!!!!! And although He has the plan, It is our responsibility to be taking care of ourselves, to be in prayer and to be in His Word so that that plan and path is laid out clear for us to see and walk in. I am so thankful for the sisters in Christ I have to encourage me and support me along the way. I am sure you agree and so as you read this, please say a prayer for your secret sister and stand in the gap for her and her family.

PRC Annual Walk for Life

Dear MOMS,

I know we just had a blizzard and walking outdoors is the FARTHEST thing from our minds right now! However this is just a heads up to "save the date" and think about getting involved with the Will County's Pregnancy Resource Center's big spring fund raiser. Our Annual Walk for Life will be on Saturday morning April 30th this year. A location is still pending for the walk but the date is set. I am hoping to see many of you come out for a fun filled morning with your families. There will be music, food, games, face painting, balloons and prize give aways for all who come out to support us.

This year you can once again register yourself and others online at www.hopeforafuture.com. When you get to the website you click onto the EVENTS page and then go to the Walk for Life site from there. If you wish to download and print a pledge form you can do so at this site. You can also specify the size WFL t-shirt you want for the event. Maybe some of you would consider doing a "MOMS team" of walkers. Or how about asking your friends, family members or neighbors to join you for this fun event. At the PRC we are limited as to how many people we can reach to get this important information out. With your help however we can reach a great number of individuals who believe in what this ministry stands for.

Joseph's Coats

To be used by God, you must wear the two coats Joseph wore - namely, those of favour and integrity.

First, the coat of favour. 'Now [Jacob] loved Joseph... and he made him a coat of many colours' (Genesis 37:3 KJV). Like Joseph's multicoloured coat, the favour of God will cause you to stand out in the crowd; it will open doors, protect and promote you. The Bible says, 'For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour You will surround him as with a shield' (Psalm 5:12 NKJV). Second, the coat of integrity. This is the coat Joseph left in the hands of Potiphar's wife when he refused her advances and stayed true to his convictions. 'When Joseph went into the house to do his work... she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled... ' (Genesis 39:11-12 NKJV). Your temptation may be different from Joseph's. You may be tempted to gossip, cut corners on a job, lie to save face, or claim credit for something you didn't do; whatever it is, you'll be tested. And your character will be revealed. Passing the test of integrity is what qualifies you to be used by God. Dr Joseph Parker, the great English preacher and contemporary of Charles Spurgeon, said, 'An un-tempted minister will never do us any good, and an untried one will talk over our heads.' When your hour of testing comes, the thing that will hold you steady and get you through is knowing, standing on, and speaking God's Word. That's why the Psalmist wrote, 'Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You' (Psalm 119:11 NKJV).

Hey Ladies,

I sure hope you enjoyed this morning as much as I did. I was so blessed by Rita’s song, Janelle’s talk on nutrition and just the fellowship in general. We missed all you ladies who were not able to make it.

I wanted to follow up just a bit on some items:

· Hearts at Home registration is due to Rebekah if you want to get the discounted group rate. You must have your classes picked and money to her by February 6th in order to qualify for the discount. There needs to be 10 people registering early in order to get the group rate. Registering after that date will be regular price.

· Anyone not able to go themselves, but wanting to contribute towards a scholarship for another mom to attend can do so. Just let me know or give your donation to Priscilla and we will pass the blessing on to those in need.

· Michelle will purchase tickets this Monday for the February MOMS Night out event: Jill Savage in Channahon on Friday, February 4th. If you are interested, please let us know ASAP

· Dinners for Toni will continue as she has 3 more weeks of Chemo. I told her we could bring 2 -3 meals each week. please let me know if you are interested in helping.

· Our February 10th meeting will be in the ministry training room across from Noah’s Park instead of our normal room 530.

Effective Prayer Avails Much!

In 2008, I was working through a Bible study by Jennifer Kennedy Dean called Live a Praying Life: Open Your Life to God's Power and Provision. From that study, God spoke to me about how when we are facing hard situations we must take aggressive action in prayer to stand against the enemy so we can gain the victory over our circumstances. If you are in the midst of a firestorm, or feel confused, brokenhearted, discouraged, or full of doubt I hope the following insights offer a new strategy for your situation or give you hope that your prayers do make a difference! I pray that these words will capture your heart and provide you with renewed hope for your life.

One thing I know for sure, God has not forgotten about you. His plan will prevail in your life. Nothing and no-one can stop that plan from coming forth. God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). His promises are true and we can rest in those promises no matter what our circumstances look like (2 Corinthians 1:20). And that is where I want to focus for a moment.

Our circumstances can be deceiving especially when time has passed and it seems as if nothing is changing concerning our prayer focus. We know that prayer works but we also know that God's timing is not our timing, which means that sometimes time feels like an eternity. This past week, I've talked with some friends about prayer, which brought me back to Dean's book. She had some powerful insights on spiritual warfare, prayer, and the armor of God, which penetrated my heart and has compelled me to share this devotion with you. Please read on (taken from Dean's book):

In response to our prayers, spiritual forces are set in motion that brings God's will to earth. Prayer has its first effect in the spiritual realm. When the work is finished in the spiritual realm, the answer is revealed in the material realm. Prayer is spiritual work. In the material realm, the definition of "work" is "to use energy to create change." Everything I do that uses energy to create change falls under the category of "work." In the spiritual realm, prayer is how energy is released to create change. Remember James 5:16? "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

Prayer changes the spiritual realm and the spiritual realm changes the material realm. Because prayer has its first effect in the spiritual realm, a reality that cannot be observed with the physical senses, there is a period of time when, from the earth, it appears that prayer isn't changing things. This is because the prayer is first doing spiritual work. Wait until the time is fulfilled, when everything is ripe. That's when the kingdom of heaven will be revealed to your senses. (Waiting is the hard part, I understand... but please keep reading).

Many people mistake prayer for a passive activity. Some think that prayer is what you do when there's nothing left to do but pray. My friend, get this deep in your spirit: prayer is the work. Prayer is the most aggressive, offensive, pro-active, invasive work you can ever engage in. We're not talking here about just 'saying prayers." This is living prayer. Let's examine a well-known, much-quoted passage of scripture and see what it has to say about prayer as an offensive strategy.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:10-18).

In summary, true prayer is God's words in my mouth. God's words do His work and He is sending His words out with an assignment. He is watching over His words to see that the assignment is carried out (Isaiah 55:10-11; Jeremiah 1:9 and 12). When God sends His words out through your mouth, the spiritual realm is immediately fully engaged. Spiritual forces are dispatched. All of heaven is poised to respond to the prayers of God's people. Through prayer, the enemy's schemes are thwarted. Through prayer, the powers, principalities, and authorities of Satan's realm are stopped cold. Through prayer, all of the power and provision of God flows into the lives of his people.

I believe there is super intense warfare going on in the spiritual realm on our behalf for our souls, for our children, spouses, for our mental well-being, provision, jobs, etc. We may not see change yet because prayer is still doing its work in the spiritual realm. I know life is full of blessings but it is also full of challenges, and in those times, we tend to pull-back, hide, stay silent rather than rise up and stand against the attacks of the enemy through aggressive (making an all-out effort to win or succeed) prayer.

Dear Friend, God has called you for such a time as this. There is no mistake that you are connected to your situation for good reason. Your steps were ordered before one was taken: before you were shaped and formed in your mother's womb, God knew you (Jeremiah 1:5). For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:12-13).

I want to encourage you to keep praying, aggressively and on the offensive over your situation. If it is your marriage you are praying about, then during the week while your husband is gone, go through your home and lay hands on your husband's side of the bed, his pillow, his shoes, his clothes, his stuff outside that he uses often, everything that is connected to him and pray over his world in a tangible way. This is an example of an aggressive prayer action in my humble opinion. Also, pray for wisdom and direction, seek the Lord on your knees to get a fresh download from God every morning for the battle. We all need a fresh download from God to ensure we are hearing His voice above all others.

One last thought:

"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good" (Romans 8:28).

Where You Are Matters!

God's plan for your life always involves your gifts, His timing, and being in the right place. But three things can keep that from happening: fear of failing, unwillingness to leave your comfort zone, and being swayed by the opinions of others. There came a point where, in order to enter the Promised Land, God said to Israel, 'You have been wandering around... long enough; turn..'(Deuteronomy 2:3 NIV) When you reach this point it's crucial that you say yes to God and be willing to step out in faith.

During a famine God said to the prophet Elijah: ' ''Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there." So he did what the Lord had told him... and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook' (1 Kings 17:3-6 NIV). God's plan for your life is always connected to a place. Jesus '... had to go through Samaria' (John 4:4 NIV). Why? To meet a woman who was destined to reach that city with the gospel. You can't just go where you like, God will honour you when you're where He wants you to be. God has promised to bless you, but sometimes He has to reposition you in order to receive His blessing. It was when Ruth moved to Bethlehem that she met Boaz and married him. It was when Bartimaeus went to where Jesus was that he received his sight. Where you are matters!

There's Hope For You

No matter where you are at this moment, if you haven't found God's plan for your life - stop what you're doing and start looking for it! There's nothing in your past or your present that He can't use. Maybe you've veered off course - we all have at one time or another. Read the stories of those God used and you'll discover that 'blowing it' isn't unusual. It's actually part of the learning curve.

When we come into this world kicking and screaming, none of us know exactly what we're supposed to do with our lives. That's okay. Just start where you are right now. When God puts your life on track, He begins by giving you a sense of hope. Only God-given hope will sustain you through the tough times.

Maybe you're wondering, "Am I ever going to get to where I'm supposed to be?" If that's how you feel today, read these words spoken by God to a group of people who'd spent their last 70 years in Babylonian slavery as a result of having done things the wrong way: "I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on Me, when you come and pray to Me, I'll listen. When He died, few mourned His passing, yet God hung a black cape over the sun. Those who crucified Him did not tremble at what they'd done, yet the earth shook under them. Sin never touched Him. Hope is a powerful force. It arouses your mind to explore every possible angle. It enables you to overcome the daunting obstacles. It's absolutely essential to the life God wants you to live. It's the fuel your heart runs on. It's the single biggest difference between those who persevere and those who give up. Hope is what makes couples say, 'I do,' without any guarantees, and later, after all the broken promises, pick up the pieces and try again knowing it can get better. It's why composers agonize over a score and artists over a canvas, believing some glimmer of beauty will emerge from the struggle. As an old man Henri Matisse was crippled with agonizing arthritis. When asked why he continued to wrap his swollen fingers around a brush every day he replied, 'The pain goes away; the beauty endures.' Laboring to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo grew so discouraged that he wanted to quit. But every morning hope pushed him up the ladder to fulfill his magnificent vision. Hope is what made Abraham leave home without knowing where God was taking him. It made Paul challenge the powers of Rome. It's what fueled the Old Testament prophets to keep taking on City Hall! This is not blind optimism, but faith focused, and hope-in God. '... You have been my hope... my confidence since my youth' (Psalm 71:5 NIV). You can survive the loss of many things, but not the loss of hope. Nobody experienced greater loss than Job, yet he wrote: 'Having hope will give you courage.' So keep your hope alive by trusting in God!

We all have uncountable blessings if we are willing to look. However, we can get so buried in the darkness and buried in the dark times we forget to count, we forget to look, and we forget we must make an effort. What we often fail to do is appreciate what is right before us. Living a life full of thanksgiving should be one of the primary tasks of your heart and soul. Living a life full of thanksgiving must be done with intent and with purpose. Living a life full of thanksgiving is not something that just happens to you. To be proactive in all godly things means you meet the darkness before the darkness meets you by being thankful. In the heart of God from whom all blessings flow, you can always find uncountable and innumerable blessings for which you can give thanks. In the heart of God are all blessings. When you say, "Please Lord, let your blessings be in me" then He will answer you and He will pour out His blessings upon you

Do you feel taken for granted? You thought they cared about you, but they were just 'using' you. That's what happens when we put our lives into the hands of people. Men and women are not creators; they can't make anything out of us, they can only use us. You snapped at your kids. You yelled at a co-worker. You screamed at the driver who cut you off. You fought with your mate again, now you're pouring out your frustrations to anybody who'll listen. Ever think that perhaps your anger is just a by-product of the resentment you've allowed to invade your soul? That's hard to acknowledge, but you won't get on top of the situation till you do. The answer's not to take it out on those around you, it's to take it to the Lord in prayer and let Him help you. It's got to start on the inside before it shows outside. That means spending time with God, allowing Him to forgive your resentments, remove your pain, heal your memories and enable you to love; as He loves. And that's a job for God. Don't try it without Him! Why don't you pray this prayer: 'Father, I want to act in love, not react in anger. Instead of being short-tempered and striking back, help me to be patient and turn the other cheek. Today let Your love rule my life, for Christ's sake, amen.' That's a prayer God will answer, for His Word says, '... Above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins"' (1 Peter 4:8 NKJV

It's A Sure Thing

Let's break this Scripture down: 'Surely goodness and mercy.' People may disappoint you, but God's goodness and mercy are sure things! 'With [God] there is never the slightest variation or shadow of inconsistency' (James 1:17 PHPS). Our devotion to God may falter, but His devotion to us never does: 'If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful... ' (2 Timothy 2:13 NLT). David didn't say, 'maybe, possibly, I hope so, I've a hunch'. No, he said, 'Surely' and that's a promise you can stand on. 'Shall follow me.' That sounds like another promise God made to His people: 'all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee... ' (Deuteronomy 28:2). Note the words: 'follow... come on... overtake'. You can't get away from them! God's goodness and mercy followed Jonah to the bottom of the sea, Daniel into the lions' den, and John into exile, opening heaven to him. Stop and look back. Think of the scrapes God's brought you through, the messes He's helped clean up, the doors He's opened, and what do you see? Blessings you don't deserve, can't escape, and are new every morning. With God, it's a sure thing! 'All the days of my life.' Think of the days ahead and what do you see? Days at home raising a family? Days in a dead-end job, struggling to get ahead? Days of loneliness and poor health? Days of caring for a sick loved one? Days of battling disappointment and depression? 'Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.' Goodness to provide, and mercy to pardon; you'll never have a day without them!

Hard times energise some people, yet paralyse others. Look at David. Everything he touched turned to gold: Samuel anointed him to be king; he defeated Goliath; Saul chose him as a musician and warrior; the army loved him and wrote songs about him. Then his life fell apart. He lost his job and his marriage failed; Samuel his old mentor died; his best friend Jonathan couldn't help him, and Saul's soldiers hounded him until he had to hide in a cave. At some point we all do time in the cave! It's where you end up when all your earthy supports are gone. It's where you learn important things about yourself that you can't learn anywhere else. It's where God does some of His best work in moulding you into the likeness of Christ. It's where your worst inadequacies confirm that you're out of your depth, and where God sends His power to flow through your weakness. When David prayed, 'You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living,' he'd no way of knowing there was a crown in his future, or that he wasn't going to die in hiding. For all he knew, this cave he was in right now might be as good as it gets. When you're in a situation you can't fix, can't change and can't escape, trust God! Trust God! Trust God! As long as your sense of security is tied solely to your success, it'll always be fragile. But when you know that God is with you even at your lowest point, you can handle the cave and come out stronger!

Within seconds they were scattered across the heavens - some rising hundreds of feet, others cruising toward the horizon. They all began from the same launching pad, were filled with the same helium, and ascended into the same conditions. Yet within minutes they were separated by a mile or more. A few balloons struggled to clear the upper branches of trees, while the show-offs became mere pinpoints of colour on their journey to the sky. How interesting, I thought - and how symbolic of children."

Parent, you help determine how high your child will rise. So: (a) Create the right climate in your home. The words you speak, the order you establish, the music and television programmes you allow, are moulding their character and their future. If you're too busy to notice these things - you're too busy! (b) Give them the right mentors. Ruth followed Naomi. Timothy followed Paul. Your children are going to follow someone. The question is, who? Your best defences against destructive influences are offensive teaching and a Christ-like example. Read God's Word to them each day. Pray over them - and with them. Do it! Don't be shy. The molester and drug dealer are not shy. Speak up! You can't improve on the words of Pharaoh's daughter, given to Moses' mother as she saved her son from the waters of the Nile that would have consumed him. "Take this child home and nurse him for me… I will pay you for your help."

Parent, you have no greater responsibility! And if you do it right, you'll have no greater reward

Welcome!!

As we enter into another year of M.O.M.S. we do so with great excitement and anticipation of what God is going to do in and through us. Our theme this year is living life with Purpose and Passion. As moms, we are called to one of the most important, yet difficult jobs on this side of heaven. God wants us not only to survive these years, but to enjoy the journey of motherhood. Merely going through the motions is not an option in His book. He wants to give us an abundant life. As we seek after Him with our whole heart, His joy becomes our joy and His strength our strength. His plan becomes our destiny.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a perfect plan for our lives. He knows everything about each one of us and cares more than anyone else for our well-being. In this great plan we can find hope for our future. That plan, however, will only come to pass if we cooperate with God and not stray from His will. He calls us to do our part. He will not impose His plan on our lives without our cooperation.

In order to reach our full potential as mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, and/or friends we should strive to cooperate with God every single day of our lives. We should be growing and learning with every new day the Lord brings to us. We must deepen our relationship with the Lord and with those people He puts in our path.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly do not want to miss out on a single good gift from above. I encourage you to seek God and the plan He has for your life. Join us this year at M.O.M.S. on a mission to discover the deepest degree of purpose and passion any women can have in her life.

Princess of the Day!!!

We have spent the second have of this year crowning princesses at our bi-monthly M.O.M.S. group meetings. It has given God a chance to reach down through us and wrap His arms around a special member of our group and show her just how much she is loved. Each princess received a gift basket, flowers, tiara, princess bag and a dinner to take home to their family. Although we crowned 6 princesses this year, we truly wish we could have made every member of our moms' group a princess for the day. We love and cherish each and every mom that takes the time to come out and be fed, physically and spiritually, so that she may grow stronger and wiser in her role as being a mother...one of the most important jobs there is to do on this side of heaven!

We are truly God's beloved and precious daughters, adopted as His own, children of the King of the universe, and therefore of royal heritage-a princess in the purest sense of the word. The best thing about being a child of the Almighty is knowing our Father, the King of Kings, can and will supply all our needs. Our job is to know who we are and Whose we are. We must walk as if we are the princesses that we are. A true princess would not go without her needs, and even her desires, being known. She would go to her Daddy King and make her requests known to Him. "Be anxious for nothing, but through prayer and supplication, make your requests (needs) know to God" We need to grab hold of our royalty and go to our Daddy God in times of need. He has given us confidence to approach His holy throne. Don't hold back or stay away. Your Father is waiting to hear from His little princess!

A Night at the Painted Penguin

Mom's Night Out

About 20 moms took the opportunity to get out for the night and met at the Painted Penguin in the Fox Valley Mall. It was a cheep night out filled with lots of fun and fellowship. For a total of $6, each mom had the opportunity to paint a ceramic piece, enjoy unlimited pizza, salad and soda, and most importantly spend time fellowshipping together. It was great to see Nila and Sandy: two moms who used to attend the Thursday meetings but no longer come because of other commitments. Coffee at Caribou Coffee followed for those moms who could stay out a little later without turning into a pumpkin. A good time of sharing and caring was experienced by all who could attend.

As I listened to the mix of conversations going on in the room and viewed the different artistic abilities (my yellow smiley face compared to Stephanie's beautiful pink and purple detailed unicorn) I marveled at diversity of human beings God has created. Each one of us being special in our very own way. God has given us all talents and gifts to be used for His purpose. The bible tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that His works are wonderful (Psalms 139:14). It also tells us in Ephesians 2:10 that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. In His great plan for our life as a mom, He knew we were going to need help and I believe that is why He has given us His Spirit AND girlfriends. We are all blesssed to be moms and are trying to do the very best we can at raising the children God has entrusted to us. Although we love our job (most days), it can be difficult. Being able to draw support from other moms is vital to our survival. Some days we just need that reminder to "keep looking up" for our strength. Being a mom might be one of the toughest jobs out there, but there is no doubt about it, it is one of the most important and precious jobs to be done on this side of heaven.

A "SPECIAL" THANKS - GIVING BACK

Several weeks ago a request went out to the M.O.M.S. group, Calvary deaconesses, as well as friends and neighbors to help a young mom in need. This young mom was 8 months pregnant and sleeping on an air mattress and living in a home without furniture and household necessities.

Many of you came together to help her out and shared what you had. Romans 12:6-7 "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is ... contributing, to the needs of others, let him give generously."

THANK YOU ALL FOR "CARING ENOUGH TO SHARE". "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." Hebrews 13:16

It was amazing to see all of God's people pulling together to help out a family in need. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! The only thing that they are still in need of is a queen mattress/box spring. MOMS' Christmas Breakfast & King's Castle Outreach

Larger room... but we still seem to be filling it up! First MOMS' meeting in our new location, thanks to Pastor Chris we now have made Room 530 our new home for MOMS! We had a total of 40 moms, 31 kids and 9 childcare providers!! Awesome turn out ... thank you so much for all the awesome donations for King's Castle I am sure we surpassed our 200 gifts!

We will continue to take donations up to December 23. Calvary Senior High will host its Christmas event for the kids to pick up gifts for their moms on December 23 - remember to sign up to help we will send out an email detailing the schedule for that day.

Enjoy Christmas and remember share God's love with everyone you meet! Live in such a way that those who know you but don't know God will come to know God because they know you!

Once again we need to thank our hostess, Frannie, for such an awesome evening! She opened her home and was such a gracious hostess we didn't want to leave... 1:30 am seemed to come so quickly!

The food was plentiful and amazing! Thank you to all for the wonderful variety. Our ornament exchange was the highlight of the evening with many ornaments being coveted by all! The scripture hearts ended up being Frannie's after breaking the rules for the hostess! The photo of Frannie wearing the plastic bags may need some explain'n but it won't be done on this site you will have to ask her yourself or better yet talk to Karen!!

Special Thanks to Pomegranate Cafe in Aurora for making our night so memorable!! As you can see from the photos we had a wonderful time and the food was amazing! If you stop by let them know you heard about them from Calvary Church MOMS'!

We had several new moms join us for the first time - Maria & Clara!! It was an awesome evening and we ended up closing the place down around 10:00 pm. Some of the moms continued on at Ann's place until about 2 am - but some of us just needed our sleep!!! Thank you to everyone for making this such a success - can't wait until the next MOMS' Night Out!

PICNIC IN THE PARK

OUR PICNIC at Phillips Park was so much fun... the kids thoroughly enjoyed the playground and it was difficult to get them to leave. The Sunken Garden was so beautiful - it truly was a great day to connect and enjoy each other and the kids. Taisha's mom, sister and sister-in-law joined us - it was so nice to meet her family!! Thanks for sharing them. Also special thanks to Devin and Hannah for helping out with Benjamin -- since his mommy was at home sick! Benjamin loved the animals and tired both Hannah & Devin out from running after him!! Getting excited to start our 3rd Year of MOMS on September 11 - come join us!!!

2nd ANNUAL POOL PARTY

OUR 2ND ANNUAL POOL PARTY was a great success!! Thanks again to Joy for arranging the facility -- it was so amazing! The Clubhouse was complete with a kitchen, large lounge area with big screen tv and lots of comfy sofas, chairs and spacious eating area as well as a great outdoor patio!

As you can see from the photos everyone was having fun... we even had a few teens to help feed the kids!!! We had over 40 people in attendance -- it was such a great time and we are planning to do this every year so remember to mark your calendars in July for this event.

The kids did a great job decorating for the tropical theme ... there were great give-a-ways for the kids to take home! Joy and the boys did a great job grilling the burgers and we had lots of salads, chips, cookies, and ice cream to go around!

Thank you to all who contributed and a special thank you to the clean up crew that left the clubhouse looking better than we started - awesome job!! Should have gotten a picture of Joy H. vacuuming using one good arm!!! Thank you all for making it such a success!!!

MAY'S CELEBRATION BANQUET/CLOTHING EXCHANGE

This was our second year of MOMS and we ended our year once again with a Celebration Banquet and Clothing Exchange! Thank you to all those that supported MOMS throughout the year. We could not have done it without all the wonderful mentors and volunteers that shared their lives with each one of us.

Chef Luis from Food Services at Calvary Church prepared a wonderful buffet which consisted of Praline French Toast, Egg Casserole, Hashbrown Casserole, sausges, bacon, bagels, fruit, coffee & juice - it was awesome.

We took the opportunity to thank all of our mentors and leaders with gifts to show our gratitude for their servanthood. The childcare workers also had the opportunity to share the banquet as well with rounds of applause and gifts from the MOMS as a small token of our appreciation for all the love and care they have provided throughout the year.

We had tons of clothing for the exchange that ranged from infant to adult. It was so much fun to shop without having to take out your wallet! Thanks again to all those that made the year so successful especially our mentors, Diane M., Diane H., Rosie, Rebecca and Mary - you ladies are such a blessing!

FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN

WHAT AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! Thank you so much to all of you who were able to participate in the "Feed My Starving Children" event. Each station consisted of approximately 10 people assembling packaged meals for children in Haiti -- We along with other volunteers from Calvary Church were able to fill 101 boxes which will feed 60 children for an entire year!!

Please check out the website at www.fmsc.com - it is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of starving children. Every day, 18,00 children die from starvation! There are times available for walk-in help or you can schedule a group of 10. Everyone of us can make a difference!!!

TAKING PHOTOS LIKE A PROFESSIONAL

At our MOMS' meeting today we had a professional photographer, Todd Pierson, show us how to take photos like a professional! It was so awesome to learn some of the techniques that are used by professionals. As for me lighting and spontaneity was what I was missing!

Todd told us that the five key elements to great photos are:

Composition
Lighting
Background
Expression
Color

It was a very informative meeting and I trust that everyone left with a least one tip to help them take better photos! Remember kids are best in their natural environment and the pics do not necessarily have to be centered, posed or perfect! Be adventurous and have FUN!!

We will be starting a "Sharing Table" and "Resource Table" at our next meeting. If you are able to assist with these initatives in any way please let one of the leaders know! We need your help and support to make this a success!!

THE SHARING TABLE
This will consist of items that you may no longer require and wish to bless other moms with. Some items could include: coupons, diapers or toys that your child has outgrown, lotions, household items, decorative items, etc. Please ensure all items you donate are in good condition.

THE RESOURCE TABLE
This will consist of CDs, books, and DVDs. We presently have all of the Hearts at Home conference CDs from March 2007 - which we recommend that you take advantage of (invaluable information). We have also recently received a donation from John Furth (Kelly's husband) of Kelly's collection of Joyce Meyer CDs. We also plan to add parenting reference books and study guides. If you have any items to donate please let Joy Myong know.

Hearts at Home National Conference

Once again the Hearts at Home conference is almost here! Many of our moms & leaders have attended for several years and feel so blessed to have such a great resource for moms. We would love to have as many moms attend and the information is outlined below.

Hearts at Home is a stay-at-home mom support group that started with ~10 moms over 10 years ago by Jill Savage and friends in Normal, IL and has grown to 6,000+ women who attend the National Conference held at the Illinois State Uuniversity campus.

This March the conference offers a fun and educational weekend of guest speakers who cover a variety of topics. Examples to promote spiritual and personal growth classes like "Living the Promised Life: Seeing with Eyes of Faith"; "Motherhood: Finding Magic & Joy in Your Journey as a Mom" and tips on strengthening your marriage presented by experts in this area (see website at www.hearts-at-home.org for a complete list of class options.)

Did I mention this weekend conference is great fun? They provide Friday Dinner and Moms Night Out filled with music and laughter. It is truly an amazing experience that you don't want to miss.

When is it? The National Conference dates are March 14 & 15 (Sat. & Sun.)
There will be a MOMS Group caravan leaving Thursday evening and returning Saturday late afternoon.

Where will I stay? 2 big hotel rooms have been booked for MOMS Group at Eastland Suites Hotel in Normal, IL for Thursday and Friday night.

WHAT A BLESSING IT WAS to share God's love with the pregnancy centers in Aurora and Bolingbrook. Our moms gave beyond our expectation and we had 26 boxes for each center along with gift cards and packages of diapers. The handwritten note above was received from the Aurora PIC and an email from Bolingbrook PSC. Both centers where so grateful for the donations -- please remember them in your prayers.

MOMS' NIGHT OUT - CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

We started the night off with Kate preparing the chocolate fountain! Then as the desserts began to arrive we had more things to dip in chocolate.

There were a total of 19 women and it seemed the kitchen was the place to gather --needless to say, the kitchen got a little crowded!

Once we finished with dessert we all gathered to sing Christmas songs under the direction of Stephanie, who so kindly brought her keyboard to help us sound better - we even had some animal sounds to highlight the singing!! The night was filled with much laughter and the true spirit of Christmas was certainly in the room. Great love and joy was felt by all.

Our ornament exchange was another highlight when we decided we liked the other person's ornament better and kindly retrieved it for ourselves! The ornaments with the biggest bling seemed to be coveted by all. Nilda, Stephanie M. & Jill seemed to be especially partial to the bling!!! Maybe next year....

I thoroughly enjoyed hosting this event and thank each and everyone of you who attended for making it so special. These are memories we will have forever. Bless you all, Deirdre

IN MEMORY OF KELLY FURTH

OUR DEAR FRIEND, KELLY FURTH, WENT TO BE WITH THE LORD ON THANKSGIVING DAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2007

She was such an inspiration to all of us and we wanted to share these photos and special memories with each of you.

Kelly began as a mentor with the MOMS group in May 2006. Although she was battling cancer she gave of herself as mentor to young moms, as well as a childcare coordinator and financial coordinator. Her positive uplifting personality and her love of God's Word is a great testimony to her faithful walk with the Lord.

She worked effortlessly to connect with each mom and to help wherever there was a need. One of our expectant moms needed help getting the baby's room ready and she painted and donated many items to make that happen. She coordinated and hosted many events including a "Wedding Celebration" at her home and a "Pool Party" for the moms and their children. MOMS was a mission that was close to Kelly's heart and we are so blessed and grateful to our Heavenly Father for placing Kelly in our paths, and we rest in the knowledge that she is with Him this very day! We love you Kelly and will always remember your great love and compassion.

Kelly's favorite scripture was "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Phil. 4:13

Words from Kelly... "I never imagined that I would be touched by so many women in such a short period of time. I do believe that God placed Karen at my table in Bible study for a reason. I was at a low period in my life and needed some support/answers/guidance. Karen was there for me, she had faith in me that I could be a mentor in the MOMS group. It was at this time that God picked me up out of the desert and placed me with such incredible women of faith, and that helped me get to where I am today. I am truly blessed by all the leaders of MOMS group."

Kelly Lynn Furth, nee Warmingham, age 44, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind her husband of nine years John J. Furth; two daughters Lauren Isabelle, age eight, and Sydney Michelle, age four; her parents Robert and Miriam Warmingham; and sister Michele (John) DeBoever; dearest friend Frannie Cramton; niece Erin (Nick) Boertman; and great-nephew Austin; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kelly worked for New York and Co. for 18 years and was an active member in bible study and the MOMS group at Calvary Church in Naperville. Funeral Monday, 1 p.m., in the chapel of Calvary Church, 9 S 200, Rt. 59, Naperville. Visitation Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 24021 W. Royal Worlington Dr. (Rt. 59), Naperville, and at the church from 12 noon until time of service. Interment Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego. September 13 - MOMS' Kick Off

WOW -- What a great kick off! We had approximately 38 moms and 26 children in attendance for our first meeting of the year.

We have several new mentors this year (Rebecca, Mary & Rosie) and we extend our sincere appreciation to each one of our mentors for making yourself available to our moms! Remember to contact your mentors anytime between meetings for prayer, they are here to support you!

Our first meeting began with an activity where each mom made their own name tag and placed boy/girl charms on the tags to indicate the number of children they have. For those of you who did not get an opportunity to do this we will have a followup session at a later date. Our next meeting which is September 27 will have one of our mentors, Rosie, speak on "The Heart of a Mom". Please join us as we fellowship together and seek Godly wisdom in all we say and do!

With the desire and dedication to bring a moms group to Calvary Church, M.O.M.S. held its first meeting on May 11, 2006. God faithfully set everything in motion to ensure that we had all the support we needed to begin such an endeavor. The enthusiasm and support of many moms that stepped into leadership roles made this ministry a reality.

Our mission statement is simple – Celebrate the season of motherhood. Providing support, encouragement and wisdom by partnering with other mothers and mentors. Our foundational scripture is "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6 and "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1.

Our first year has been a testament to God’s covering of this ministry and our dependance and surrender to His guidance and wisdom. We truly give God the praise and glory for the success of our inaugural year. We would like to share some of the comments from the moms that were impacted by M.O.M.S.

"I never imagined that I would be touched by so many women in such a short period of time. I do believe that God placed Karen at my table in Bible study for a reason. I was at a low period in my life and needed some support/answers/guidance. Karen was there for me, she had faith in me that I could be a mentor in the MOMS group. It was at this time that God picked me up out of the desert and placed me with such incredible women of faith, and that helped me get to where I am today. I am truly blessed by all the leaders of MOMS group." Kelly

"What M.O.M.S group means to me: A safe place in which to share frustrations, joys, concerns regarding being a wife and mother. Much needed fellowship, without any kids! Most important, the prayer support and encouragement from other mom's in the group. Thank you for the courage to start up this new group. It has meant a lot to me." Heather

So many times, I feel like I fall short. Perfection? I'll settle for competence in just a couple of my varied roles as a woman, wife, mother, friend, sister, daughter. Walking into Room 235 on Thursday mornings. the pressures of life seems to fall away just for a couple of hours. It feels great to walk into a room full of familiar faces knowing that these women, they understand like no one else can. I also love the fact that I come away from every MOMS Group meeting feeling just a little more whole. If my husband, kids, neighbors, customers sees me as a little kinder, a bit wiser and a little more encouraging, it's because I have taken away just a bit of the kindness, wisdom and encouragement from the other Mothers Offering Mutual Support. I very much appreciate that being a part of MOMS Group helps me connect with wonderful women in sometimes unexpected, but always meaningful ways.
Thanks Karen for helping to bring together this amazing group of women who remind me that it's all about connecting to other people. To sit, slow down and listen again, for I still have so much to learn. Much admiration. Joy

The great thing about MOMS is that it is accomplishing what it was supposed to--giving support to Moms! MOMS is really a kind of extended family. Even those that don't know each other will reach out during times of trials or celebrations. It's nice to know that I have people I can count on. Also, being part of the group makes me want to reach out to others more. Whether we are having serious discussion, prayer, or laughing during crafts, I know everyone is there to lift each other up. The best part is that this is just the beginning! Thank you, Karen for starting such a wonderful group. Alison

MAY 24 - MOMS CELEBRATION BANQUET

Thursday, May 24 we celebrated our one year anniversary together with a clothing exchange and thank you ceremony for our leaders and childcare workers. What an awesome breakfast buffet we had which was catered by Tasha from Calvary's very own Food Service Ministry! We were served Egg Strata, Hashbrown casserole, Praline french toast, fresh fruit, mini bagels with cream cheese, coffee, juice and water. To top it off we had a 7 layer chocolate cake for dessert.

It was such a special day and we had racks and racks of clothing to choose from. Thank you so much to all of you who made this year a great success! TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!!!

MAY 10TH - MOMS' MEETING

Kelly overlooking a craft project...

Another fantastic time of fellowship and sharing. We had once again an amazing array of breakfast items just when you think it is at its best it gets even better. Thank you so much to all of you who bless us with your culinary talents, it is greatly appreciated.

Kelly was our speaker this week and I should have brought along boxes of Kleenex to share for there were plenty of wet eyes and sniffling going on! What a powerful message of God's faithfulness and the miracles God performed in her life. For those who could not make it, Kelly has battled cancer having been first diagnosed in 2000 after having her first child. She had breast cancer which was treated and in 2004 she had a reaccurance of cancer found in several areas liver, bone and then her brain. We are believing for a cancer free body!! Praise God. Thank you Kelly for sharing your story with us, as difficult as it may have been, it truly touched each and everyone of us.

Our last meeting of the year is May 24th which will be coupled with a mom's clothing exchange and a celebration of our first year in this ministry. Special thanks to all of you moms who have worked so hard to make this group successful by sharing your lives and hearts with all our moms.
